The Draft EIS was made available for agency and public review starting September 26, 2008. A Pubic Information Workshop and Public Hearing were conducted on November 12, 2008 to discuss the Draft EIS and solicit comments. The comment period for the Draft EIS closed on November 24, 2008. The FAA thanks everyone who participated and submitted comments.

The FAA is proceeding with Phase 3, the preparation of the Final EIS. The Final EIS is scheduled to be completed in 2010.

Palm Beach International Airport
EIS Study Team

FAA is the lead Federal agency for the EIS at PBI and is responsible for the preparation of the Draft and Final EIS documents. FAA has selected URS Corporation to assist in the preparation of the EIS. Palm Beach County Department of Airports (PBC DOA), as the airport sponsor, is requesting FAA approval of changes to the PBI Airport Layout Plan (ALP) and will assist FAA in its NEPA responsibilities.

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
Study Manager: Lindy McDowell

The EIS is being prepared under the direct control of the FAA. The FAA official must ensure the EIS properly analyzes and discloses potential significant individual and cumulative environmental impacts that the proposed project and reasonable alternatives could cause.

Palm Beach County Department of Airports
Study Manager: Gary Sypek

The Palm Beach County Department of Airports (PBC DOA) oversees county airports on behalf of the Palm Beach Board of County Commissioners. The PBC DOA operates four airports in Palm Beach County with Palm Beach International Airport serving commercial air traffic, as well as general aviation aircraft. The PBC DOA’s point of contact for the EIS is Mr. Gary Sypek, Director of Planning.     

URS Corporation
Study Manager: Allan Nagy

URS Corporation was selected by the FAA to assist the agency in the acquisition of data, evaluation of potential impacts and preparation of the Draft and Final EIS documents. The URS team is comprised of URS staff and their sub consultants: Community Awareness Services, Emerge Consulting Inc., L.B. Limited & Associates, and TransSolutions, LLC.
